Early Years Settings

47.5% of Norfolk’s Children and Young People (5+) are not meeting activity guidelines

Physical development in a child’s early years is crucial for reaching developmental milestones during their pre-school years. Engaging in physical activities helps under 5s develop these skills at the right time.

The Chief Medical Officer recommends that under 5s should be active for an average of 180 minutes (3 hrs) a day. For more information on the benefits of physical activity for young children and how to incorporate it into their daily routine, click here.

Child being active in early years

Our role in shaping Active Futures for today’s generation and tomorrow’s adults.

We work closely with Norfolk County Councils Early Years Intervention team to offer a fully funded CPD opportunity called Active Futures for Early Years Children. This programme has been designed to enhance the knowledge and awareness of physical development amongst Early Years professionals. This programme not only deepens understanding but also includes practical strategies for implementing this learning in everyday practice.

Working together, we can help improve outcomes for the children, and the families you work with.
