Community Investment: Active NoW

The Fund

The aim of the Active NoW fund is to bolster local physical activity provision and broaden the scope of activity options for those being referred onto the Active NoW Exercise Referral scheme. The initiative is designed to leverage existing community assets and resources.

The grants provided to activity providers serve two main purposes: upskilling staff to deliver activities tailored to individuals with specific long-term health conditions and providing initial financial support.

A key aspect of the funding is to influence the allocation of resources and investments to address local priorities, with a special emphasis on addressing inequalities. Through working with district-level leads we can ensure a even spread of provision that targets the residents of Norfolk who are most in need.

Impact Summary

Our locality modelling efforts have successfully developed a planning process to support the growth of Active NoW. The process involves creating working groups within district council areas and connecting them with health and wellbeing partnerships in each region.

In the previous financial year (2022-2023), £98,169 in grants were distributed to support initiatives related to Active NoW. However, for the current financial year, the funding amount is expected to see a substantial increase.
