The future of the Big Norfolk Holiday Fun programme

The future of Big Norfolk Holiday Fun

Thank you for your continued support of the Big Norfolk Holiday Fun programme. Whether you are an activity provider, stakeholder, or parent or carer, your efforts have contributed to the programme’s successes throughout its run.

Thank you to the Department for Education, who have funded BNHF for the last 4 years. As of 20 January 2025, 1 more year of funding has been announced to support the programme. Projected dates for Easter delivery are currently 07 April – 17 April, excluding weekends and bank holidays.

Check out our video on the importance of the programme and the impact it’s had below:

We’ve worked with providers from all across Norfolk

The providers who have worked with us on the Big Norfolk Holiday Fun programme over the past few years have been crucial to the programme’s success. Delivering a mixture of activities including arts & crafts, dance, football, multisports, trips to the zoo and much more, we could not have delivered this programme without such a fantastic team.

Over the past few years, we’ve relied on our partners for their thoughts and feedback, in order to continuously improve the Big Norfolk Holiday Fun programme.

You can hear what they had to say below.

Our next provider drop-in

On 11 February, we will host our post-winter delivery drop-in from 9:30 AM – 3 PM at the Wensum Valley Hotel, Golf and Country Club. We will celebrate providers’ hard work and review the next steps in place for the programme. The drop-in will be bigger than those held previously, featuring guest speakers, live music, and food.

This event is for Big Norfolk Holiday Fun providers who have ran sessions within the last 18 months. Please note that as this is an in-person occasion, it is mandatory someone represents your organisation to be considered for future funding.

Big Norfolk Holiday Fun providers should complete the below form by 27 January to inform us of their attendance.

So, what’s next for the Big Norfolk Holiday Fun programme?

Our last winter campaign ran in December for children and young people of Norfolk to enjoy. Thought to be the final delivery period, this was a huge success to end the year on.

Whilst the further funding increases the likelihood of enabling a similar programme, planning involving dates and details around the programme’s operations have yet to be decided.

In the meantime, Active Norfolk will continue to work with our partners to promote opportunities for children and young people across Norfolk via our Every Move platform.

The Big Norfolk Holiday Fun programme has made a huge difference across the county, providing opportunities for children who may not otherwise have been active over the holidays. We’ve received an overwhelming amount of support and positive feedback and we wanted to take the time to thank everyone who got involved.

We’ve pulled together some figures so you can see the breadth of the programme in our impact report below.
